I'm going to keep this post short & sweet.
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I will be spending it with the best future husband...not doing anything special. We have agreed on no presents or cards (as we have lots to save up for with our honeymoon and extra wedding expenses); therefore, we will be spending our time doing my favorite thing -- just being together.
I had an interaction with a client who is currently in a slightly confused state and we were doing a sentence completion task. So, I would start the sentence and he would have to finish it with some coherent that fit with the beginning.
We went through a couple of the simple ones "I like salt and pepper on my....'eggs'" or "I want to drive my ...'car'".
Then, I started the sentence saying "I wish I was...."
and his response surprised me as he said "with my wife."
Even, in his slightly confused state, he knows he misses her (as she is no longer alive), loves her, and spends each day thinking about how special and amazing their love/life together was.
So, I implore you to either find or foster THAT kind of love.
Not the love that only gratifies you with cards or gifts, but the one where the love is so intensely strong that, at the end of your life, that is all you can remember.
